Keyword Stuffing
Keyword Stuffing
Keyword stuffing is the use of excess keywords in a web page’s title tag, meta tag, or body text. This can be achieved by adding multiple times the same keyword in each of these locations.
Why do you need to avoid keyword stuffing?
Google detects keyword stuffing and penalizes websites that have been using it. Google’s penalization algorithm is constantly being improved upon and sometimes results in false positives.
Other times, they may mistakenly penalize sites that have used keyword stuffing but were not actually guilty of doing so (e.g., due to the fact that many other sites were also penalized, which makes it difficult for Google to distinguish between them).
Why Do Webmasters Use Keyword Stuffing?
You may wonder why web admins want to use keyword stuffing on their sites. The answer is simple: It helps them rank higher on search engine results pages (SERPs). The problem is there are so many ways to rank better in SERPs that using more than one method can lead to less-than-optimal results.
For example, if you rank well-using backlinks from high PageRank domains, you may find that you lose out on other keywords because they are not covered by your backlink profile.
