.htaccess File
The .htaccess file is a text-based configuration file used to control access to the Apache web server. The main purpose of this file is to allow the administrator to control access to resources, such as directories and files, on the server.
The .htaccess file is located in the root directory of your website, but it can be placed anywhere you want on the server. This is because it does not affect any other part of your site or network.
The .htaccess file belongs to the group of files called “files that are not meant for public viewing” and is therefore only accessible by users who have been granted access privileges from an administrator account
