AMP
Accelerated Mobile Pages or AMP
Accelerated Mobile Pages or AMP is an open-source project launched by Google in February 2016. Its purpose is to improve the performance of webpages for mobile devices.
This technology is already used by a large number of sites including:
- ABC;
- CNN;
- Fox News;
- The Parisian ;
- The Washington Post;
- Etc…
In fact, The Washington Post’s senior product manager, David Merrell , says, “ We’re committed to speeding things up in every area. If our site takes a long time to load, no matter how good our journalism, some people will leave the page before seeing what’s on it”.
It would therefore be a good idea for you to also look into the use of AMP for your website. And if you have a website on WordPress, I show you how to switch to AMP in a future article.
