Referral Traffic

Referral Traffic - SEO Glossary

Referral traffic is measured by users who come to your website through external links clicked from other websites outside of search engines and social media. Besides organic traffic, this is probably the best type of traffic to earn.

By creating quality, shareable content, you can earn lots of backlinks, and therefore referral traffic, to your website. Just keep in mind that links from social media sites are not considered backlinks by Google, and therefore will not impact your SEO ranking.

It indicates that you’ve caught the attention of prospects who are genuinely interested in what you offer since they clicked on your link on their search results page. These are therefore what are called qualified prospects, who will ultimately be able to convert into customers.
